Paid but Unrated: joining x402 demand to ERC-8004 reputation

Dated point-in-time measurement as of the 2026-09-01 bazaar snapshot (fetched 2026-09-01T11:23:10Z); refreshes when a future task re-runs the join, not on the daily site build. Sample: 14,338 Base x402 endpoints with quality.l30DaysUniquePayers ≥ 1 — each took at least one paid call in the preceding 30 days. Of those, 1,291 (9.0% — the headline) resolve to a registered ERC-8004 owner by exact lowercased pay_to → owner match, 9 carry any reputation feedback event, and 0 satisfy the canonical commerce_backed.py predicate.

Read the publisher-level cut alongside that headline. Those 1,291 resolvable earning endpoints collapse to just 26 distinct pay_to addresses. On the full base-resolvable set — 1,303 endpoints, no earning filter (the same slice minus the l30DaysUniquePayers gate) — the top single publisher alone is 67.2% (875 of 1,303). Of those 26 matched publishers, 4 have any reputation summary row on Base and each carries exactly one feedback event (feedback_count=1, unique_clients=1); 0 of the 26 are commerce-backed. The zero has an operational explanation, not a fraud implication — all 44 commerce-backed ERC-8004 agents we track are Virtuals ACP registrants that publish commerce through the ACP protocol, not as HTTP endpoints in the Coinbase x402 bazaar. Four Measured Findings, Cite-Ready

Nobody else joins the paid-endpoint cohort to on-chain ERC-8004 identity. Each finding below is one paragraph with its claim trap co-located in the same paragraph — the trap is not a footnote. Numbers render live from /v1/public/stats on every build; dated snapshot findings say so. See the linked pages for full derivation.

1. ERC-8004 identity scale — raw mints, not agents

The Ethereum ERC-8004 IdentityRegistry holds 50,071 raw mints as of the 2026-08-17 census — that is raw mints, not agents. 60.9% have a populated tokenURI; far fewer resolve to a usable agent card. Third-party trackers publish counts an order of magnitude lower; those are stale snapshots.

2. Solana registry census — creator concentration and origin disclosure

On the QuantuLabs 8004-solana port on Solana mainnet (a third-party program — not the ERC-8004 EIP, which is Draft and Ethereum-only), a single-slot RPC census returned 1,477 raw registrations from 185 distinct creator keys, with top-1 22.1% and top-10 78.7%. Origin disclosure co-located in the same paragraph: 22.4% (331 registrations across 4 creator keys) carry an OpenClaw-adjacent string. No resolvability claim — URIs were not fetched by this snapshot.
Method: single-slot Solana getProgramAccounts census against program 8oo4dC4J… at slot 443,734,027, measured 2026-09-02. The full dataset (top-20 creator table and URI-prefix histogram) is linked in the citable-datasets section below.

3. The machine path is not demand (rolling 30-day window)

External traffic on our priced /v1/intel surface over the rolling 30-day window: 21,230 402 challenges issued to external clients and 0 settled paid calls. A 402 is a challenge, not a buyer — the challenge count is what scanners walk into, not what money returns. On the free MCP funnel over the same window, 92 distinct external MCP callers, of whom 0 ever touched a paid path.
Method: rolling 30-day window over the audit-tracker http_calls and mcp_calls tables, external-only (self-IP + docs referer excluded). Recomputed on every stats fetch.

4. Chain quality — a trust filter, not the biggest index

Of our indexed ERC-8004 cohort, live-endpoint rate per chain: Base 9% live, Ethereum 56% live. Most of the on-chain footprint is placeholder names and blank endpoints; the trust filter is the point — the chain with the largest mint count is not the one to measure liveness against.
Method: shared liveness.is_live predicate — the declared endpoint answers 2xx AND advertises an MCP / OpenAPI / .well-known capability surface — applied over the full indexed profile store. Refreshed every 15 minutes.
